Our Transforming City

How we anticipate and respond to change will be crucial to ensure we increase and maintain a quality standard of living.

Over the coming decades we will be transitioning to a low carbon future and navigating the ever changing technological and industrial advances.

Population growth will continue and we will require a well thought out plan to manage our assets, provide employment and deliver services to accommodate new arrivals as they make their home in our City.

As part of moving forward and embracing change, we are committed to preserving our history and heritage. We will not lose sight of where we have come from and will continue to value the unique history of our area and communities.

Our Transforming City Dr Ehsan

"We got into discussion with the City of Charles Sturt and we developed a brief for a low carbon playground. Today, it might look a bit unconventional to approach a playground from a low carbon point of view, but that would be the future of design. It’s a bit of a pioneer project in my mind. A project like this has a futuristic point of view."

Dr Ehsan Sharifi – Senior Lecturer at Adelaide University on the Climate Resilient Playground Project

"We knew that we wanted to head in a slightly different direction. We knew that the gym had survived COVID and the first lot of lockdowns, so it was about how we could look at strategic planning, more growth, access to business advisors and other people that have really helped us."

Kelly and Jason Delfos – Owners of The Studio at West Beach

I love the culture. 105 different nationalities all mixing together. When I first started we weren’t even integrating with festivals and things that other cultures had and we invited them to do it, and they were shocked that they could do it. It brought the City together.

“People with disabilities travel all over the state and country to come to Henley Beach because of the accessibility that’s here. There’s probably one of the widest ranges of equipment for people to use with disability anywhere in all of South Australia. Henley Square did a major renovation a few years ago. All the footpaths have been upgraded, they’re wide, they’re smooth, they’re compliant. Navigating around every part of the Square is super easy.”

Shane Hryhorec - Disability Advocate
